The Immorality of Coerced Sexuality - June 13th
This Sunday, the Capital District Humanist Society is presenting a free, open to the public presentation by Michael Murphy, Distinguished Teaching Professor, Emeritus, from the Department of Natural Sciences at the State University of New York at Cobleskill. His specialty areas include the ethics of emerging technologies, biotechnology, and developmental physiology.
"Arguments against same-sex relationships, including same-sex marriage, have become more sophisticated in recent years, claiming a secular (and rational) basis for discrimination. These arguments remain rooted in the false assumption of immutable and deterministic human gender and sex. I will argue that the goal of these – and earlier – arguments are to coerce heterosexuality on all individuals, regardless of their biology or their rational choices."
