Interview With The Deity
I randomly found the strangest essay the other day. It's about an Atheist who meets god, on a train, and gets the chance to ask a few questions.
It starts out:
- I met god the other day.
I know what you’re thinking. How the hell did you know it was god?
Well, I’ll explain as we go along, but basically he convinced me by having all, and I do mean ALL, the answers. Every question I flung at him he batted back with a plausible and satisfactory answer. In the end, it was easier to accept that he was god than otherwise.
Which is odd, because I’m still an atheist and we even agree on that!
It goes on to create a perfectly wonderful allegory for understanding the universe, and our place in it. It's the kind of metaphor that 'just feels right', the kind that you can see inspiring millions, and because of it's very content, it just might just be the kind that could resist being perverted into an actual religion.
Wouldn't it be beautiful if this kind of a seed could grow in our world, for once?
